For space-law / space economy enthusiasts, we are happy to announce that the German legal journal "Zeitschrift für Luft- und Weltraumrecht" has just released Gregorio Salatino's latest article on the topic "Space Economy - A Legal Framework" (Salatino, ZLW, 2022, 3, 417 ff.). This article, with some changes and additions, expands on a speech that Gregorio gave on February 10, 2022, at the webinar arranged in order to start-up the new space law department in our law firm. The webinar was arranged in collaboration with ESA BIC Turin, Canadian Institute for International Law Expertise (CIFILE) and AIMBA Associazione Italiana degli MBAs. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them once again for their support. Space law is entering a new era. Until recently only States were supposed to carry out space activities. But now private companies are taking the stage, thus enhancing the "space economy". The article deals with the main space law issues. If you want to read it, please contact us!

The webinar on the topic "Space Economy. A Legal Framework" aims at examining the basic principles that govern activities in space. Starting from an historic standpoint, the lecturer will explain how the principles stated in international treaties have developed, also showing their current inefficiency. More in detail, the webinar focuses on the issues concerning the "geostationary orbit", the principles of non-appropriation (in particular, is it possible to pull out minerals from celestial bodies for commercial purposes?) and the "trouble" of space debris.
